The AFA has a long history, although not in recent years, of hosting camping meets every fall. My own very first meet, before I had taken the test to become and apprentice, was a camping meet held in Dugas. We are going to renew that tradition this year. If you would enjoy camping with your hawks and your fellow falconers please make plans to attend.
The location is about 30 miles east of Kingman. Actual address is 15869 E. Silver Springs Rd., Kingman, AZ 86401.
Directions from the junction of Highway 93 and I-40:
-7.1 miles east of 93, take Exit 71 onto Silver Springs Rd.
-Turn right onto Silver Springs Rd.
-1.4 miles to destination
At the "T" there is a large open area suitable for group camping, and there are additional campsites within walking distance both east and west of that location.
This will be our first time holding a camping meet at this location. It is our hope that the area will be suitable for a reasonable number of falconers to camp and hunt. We will be looking to hold a camping meet like this at least once a year, and would like to move it around the state to other fun locations.
Saturday night we will have a potluck Thanksgiving dinner. The AFA will provide turkeys. Please bring a side dish to share.
